COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Miami University's Alyson Schmidt (Maineville) and Kelsey Vehr (Cincinnati) have completed day two of their three-day competition at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in College Station, Texas.
Vehr competed in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims on Friday, placing 37th of 49 swimmers with a time of 1:01.74. The sophomore did not qualify for Friday evening's finals.
Schmidt did not enter Friday's 200 freestyle competition, choosing instead to concentrate on Saturday's 100-yard freestyle race. Schmidt did not fare particularly well in Thursday's 50 free event, so she and Miami coach Dave Jennings decided that the RedHawk senior might gain a competitive edge with an extra day of rest.
Shortly after Schmidt competes on Saturday, Vehr will swim in the 200 breaststroke prelims.
