Final Stats

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami baseball team dropped its third in row as the fell to Toledo at Scott Park, 11-6, on Saturday afternoon.

Jared Hoying of Toledo hit two home runs, one in the fifth and another in the seventh, as the Rockets claimed their second consecutive win over the RedHawks. Miami would rally in the eighth inning scoring three times but it would not be enough as Toledo came back with two run in the bottom of the inning.

Miami took the lead in the top of the first inning on a two-out two-run single to right field by Zak Hatfield (Fort Wayne, Ind.). Toledo answered with one run in the second, three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth. The Rockets only failed to score in the first and sixth innings. Ryan Curl (Columbus, Ohio) had a solid day going three-for-four and driving in a run in the eighth and then being involved in a very odd play.

Miami had the bases load with one out when Adam Eaton (Springfield, Ohio) hit a slow roller toward the second baseman, Krofcheck. He bare handed the ball tagged Cur,l who was head to second with his glove, and then threw to first to get Eaton. The play was originally ruled a double play but on an appeal by head coach Dan Simonds the call was over turned a run scored and the inning continued.

The RedHawks and the Rockets will be back in action tomorrow at Scott Stadium at 1 p.m. for the final game of their three game series.
