Miami Swimming Hosts 16th Annual Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio - Miami men's and women's swimming and diving teams host the 16th Annual Miami Invitational this weekend at the Nixon Aquatic Center at the Miami Recreation Center.
The teams will host Cincinnati, Wright State, Denison, Emory and Oakland on the men's side and Cincinnati, Wright State, Denison, Illinois, Emory, Oakland and Florida Gulf Coast on the women's side. UW-Milwaukee will also be diving in the meet.
Miami's women enter the meet with a 5-3 overall record (3-1 in the Mid-American Conference), while the men are 3-5 overall, 1-1 in the MAC.
Last year the women's team broke 26 meet, pool, school and MAC records on the way to a first-place finish out of nine teams. The RedHawks won 15 of the meet's 20 events, finishing with nearly a 1000-point lead over the second-place team. Returning event-winners are Allison Way (Omaha, Neb.), Chelsey Bruington (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Kelsey Vehr (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Nicole Roddenbery (Peachtree, Ga.).
The men finished third out of six teams, setting four season bests and finishing in the championship heat (top nine) 20 times. James Beres took first in the one-meter diving and Chris Heaton won the three-meter competition with a pool, meet, school and MAC record-breaking performance.
The meet begins Thursday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday will feature prelims at 9 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. each day.
Admission is $5.00 and will include a heat sheet. Live results are available . Finals on Saturday will be shown on live streaming video at Miami All Access.
