Miami Drops Extra-Inning Pitcher's Dual, 2-1

YPSILANTI, Mich. - In the second game of Miami's doubleheader with Eastern Michigan, an 11th inning pinch-hit home run by Eastern Michigan's Mike Sacha gave the Eagles a 2-1 win over Miami. Eastern Michigan improved to 4-17 overall and 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play, while Miami fell to 5-16 overall and 1-4 in MAC action.

In the second inning, freshman Adam Eaton delivered a one-out single through the right side and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by senior Evan Armitage. Junior Jordan Petraitis hit a two-out RBI single through the left side plating Armitage and giving Miami a 1-0 advantage.

Senior Chris Niro had a fantastic outing giving up just one hit in seven and a third innings, but three walks and an error allowed the Eagles to tie the game at 1-1 in the eighth inning. Both teams were retired in the ninth inning to send the game into extra innings.

Neither team could get anything going until Sacha hit a two-out home run to give the Eagles a 2-1 extra-inning victory.

The RedHawks and Eagles wrap up their three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
