Box Score

OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's baseball team had its six-game win streak over Dayton snapped on Wednesday evening as the Flyers defeated Miami, 7-3. Dayton (13-7) collected 13 hits in the game, while Miami (5-14) mustered up six hits.

After two scoreless innings, Dayton jumped on the board first as a one-out walk turned into a run. Kevin Miller drew a one-out walk and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Miller advanced to third base on a ground out to second base and eventually scored as Scott Dunwoody singles through the right side to give the Flyers a 1-0 advantage.

Back-to-back doubles plated another run for the Flyers in the fourth inning, before Dayton exploded for five runs in the fifth inning to expand its lead to 7-0.

Miami got on the board for the first time in the fifth inning off of three hits. Junior Eric Darlage singled to lead off the inning and after a fly out, freshman Adam Eaton walked to give Miami runners on first and second base with one out. Freshman Jon Edgington singled through the left side to load the bases and a walk by senior Evan Armitage plated Miami's first run and kept the bases loaded with one out. Following a strike out, junior Chris Nadeau delivered his ninth and 10th RBIs of the season as he drilled a two-out single into right center field to plate Eaton and Edgington.

However, the RedHawks could not advance a runner past second base in the following innings and the Flyers left Oxford with a 7-3 win.

Six RedHawk players had one hit apiece, but Nadeau led Miami with two RBIs.

Miami heads to Ypsilanti, Mich. for a three-game series against Eastern Michigan beginning with a 3 p.m. game on Friday, March 28. The start time for Saturday's and Sunday's game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
