Miami Softball Tops Youngstown State, 4-1

OXFORD, OHIO - Shalise Lugo fired a five-hitter and Breanna Robinson had a two-run double as Miami University's softball team defeated the Youngstown State Penguins, 4-1, in Friday's opening game of the Miami Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational.
Coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly's RedHawks tallied two runs in the third inning and scored two more in the sixth as Miami improved its season record to 7-12.
Rightfielder Christine Bills went three-for-three and scored a run for the RedHawks, while Meghan Mawn had a single and scored a run. Sarah Billstrom and Jenna McGivney also collected singles for Miami.
Rochelle Vanyi was the only Penguin player with two hits, one of them a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Lugo improved her record to 3-6, striking out three and walking four.
YSU faces Toledo at 2 p.m. Friday, followed by Miami and Toledo at 4 p.m.
