OXFORD, Ohio--Miami University's women's tennis team completed its third straight sweep, blanking the University of Cincinnati on Sunday evening, 7-0. The RedHawks improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Bearcats dropped to 2-4.
It is the third such consecutive win for the RedHawks, who dominated both Butler and Dayton last weekend by 7-0 scores.
Sophomore Brintney Larson and freshman Cara Wald improved to 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 win against UC's Alizee Paradis and Jennifer Rowen. Freshmen Anastasia Dracheva and Megan Martzolf paired up at No. 2 doubles, while freshman Sydnee Bridger and senior Leda Pesatova teamed up at No. 3 doubles with both tandems completing the doubles sweep with identical 8-4 wins.
Dracheva again dominated at No. 1 singles, defeating Cincinnati's Paradis 6-1, 6-0 to move to 4-0 on the season. Larson earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles, while Martzolf pulled out the 6-2, 7-6 win in the third flight. Pesatova posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles, while senior Kelly Douple notched a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and freshman Cara Wald pounded out a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The RedHawks travel to Richmond, Ky., next weekend for a pair of matches. Miami faces East Tennessee on Friday, Feb. 8 before taking on host Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 9. Both match times are set for 1 p.m.
