RedHawk Men's Swimmers in Third-Place at Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio--Miami University's men's swimming and diving team stands in third place with 786 points after Friday's competition at the 15th Annual Miami Invitational, trailing first-place Denison (973) and second-place Oakland (954.50).
The RedHawks' diving trio of freshman JIMMY BERES, senior Chris Heaton and freshman Cameron Horner led the way for the men with a one-two-three finish in the one-meter competition.
Other highlights included a season-best effort in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:23.32) by junior DAVE BROWN, senior ANDY NEFF, sophomore Mark Healey and senior Zac Siegel. The RedHawks' 400 medley relay team also swam its fastest race of the year at 3:27.05. Freshman Chris Gunnels, junior MIKE CARROLL, sophomore Jason Hass and Brown made up that relay quartet.
Brown also swam a personal best :20.45 in the 50 freestyle, while sophomore Lenny Wanta had a PR in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.22.
"I thought our freshmen and sophomores swam really well tonight," said Head Coach Pete Lindsay. "We've got a lot of work to do, but we're making progress."
Miami's men will look to build upon Friday's performances during Saturday's final two sessions. The morning prelims start at 9 a.m. and the finals follow at 6 p.m. at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
