OXFORD, Ohio - A day after winning seven-of-nine events and setting numerous school, meet, pool and conference records, the Miami women's swimming and diving team picked up right where it left off, taking the top qualifying spot in four of the day's six events with two more record-breaking performances.
Junior Kasey Carpenter placed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a new school record of 1:58.85, replacing the mark set in 1994 by Camilla Johansson. Just two hours later, sophomore Megan Brunn joined the ranks of record-breaking RedHawks when she took the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke in a meet and school record time of 2:15.53.
Miami looks to extend its overall meet record with myriad finals qualifiers in all of today's events.
Miami senior Malarie Schmidt (2:04.45) will join Carpenter in the top heat in tonight's finals after placing fifth. Also qualifying for finals in the event were Miami's Chelsey Bruington, Miranda Kaltenborn, Anne Golembeski, Tenley Marsteller, SHANIA COOPER and Katherine Reinmann.

Sarah Bullock, Sarah Radke and JENNIFER FLAHERTY will swim in the consolation heats. (continued below)
