OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University field hockey squad was outdone by the #11 Ohio University Bobcats, 3-1, at the Miami Turf Field on Sunday afternoon.
The lone RedHawk goal came from Alyssa Nye, who scored off a penalty corner in the 21st minute with an assist from Taylor Florence. That goal brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Bobcats. Ohio put another goal in between them and the hosts when Torrie Albini scored off a penalty corner with an assist from Rachelle Coetzee in the 62nd minute.
Both Megan Stengel and Kelsey Dean saw time in goal, with Dean playing 55-plus minutes and stopping seven shots, while Stengel stopped two Bobcat attempts.
Both squads had 14 shots in the game. Miami held a 12-6 advantage in penalty corners. Five cards were handed out in the hotly contested game with three called on the RedHawks.
Miami is now 3-6 on the season (1-2 MAC) and will next travel to Central Michigan University on September 28 for a 3 p.m. game with the Chippewas.
Ohio is now 7-3 overall and 2-0 in MAC play.
