Michigan Hands Miami Soccer Team 4-0 Setback

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Miami University women's soccer team was defeated, 4-0, by the University of Michigan in non-conference women's soccer action Friday night at the UM Soccer Field. The RedHawks are now 1-3-2 on the season, while the Wolverines improved to 2-3-1.
Michigan scored twice in the first half of play as Katie Bohard tallied her first marker of the year in the eighth minute, while Amanda Bowery added her second goal of the season in the 22nd minute. The tandem each earned one assist in the opening stanza as well.
As the teams headed to the intermission, UM held a 17-4 shot advantage.
The Wolverines built a four-goal lead as Bowery notched an unassisted tally in the 62nd minute and Melissa Dobbyn netted her first goal of the campaign in the 70th minute.
Miami sophomore goalkeeper Krista Pace (Toronto, Ontario/Birchmont Park) turned in nine saves in 90:00 of action, while Madison Gates (3 - 75:28) and Lindsay Yakel (1 - 14:32) combined to make four saves in net for Michigan.
Freshman Sara Lund (Malmo, Sweden/Malmo Borgarskola) led the RedHawks with three shots and one shot on goal.
The Wolverines finished with a 35-6 overall shot advantage in the match, including a 13-4 lead for shots on goal.
Miami concludes its non-conference season with a matchup at Xavier on Sunday (Sept. 23).
