Popa Breaks Miami's Career Shutout Record in 2-0 Win

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University soccer team fought to a 2-0 win against Youngstown State University Sunday night after goals by Kayla Perfect and Katie O'Malley. Goalkeeper Dominique Popa broke the program's career shutout record during the contest, recording her 24th career shutout. The RedHawks move to 2-3-0 with the result. YSU is now 0-4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The RedHawks got on the scoreboard first on a cross-goal shot by Perfect, assisted by Morgan Tyrakoski, to make it 1-0 in the 16th minute.
- Miami had a strong chance in the 60th minute on a shot by Perfect that required a great save. The follow up shot by Tyrakoski was blocked.
- In the 75th minute, the RedHawks took a 2-0 lead after a pristine pass by Perfect to Katie O'Malley, who put the ball in the bottom right corner.
- Popa made an incredible diving save in the 77th minute to keep the Penguins off the goal sheet.
- Popa made a leaping save, her seventh save of the night, to secure the shutout in the 88th minute.
NOTES
- Popa recorded her 24th career shutout, a program record.
- Tyrakoski recorded her first career assist.
- Perfect scored and assisted in the same game for the third time in her career.
- Morgan Longacre tallied her first start of the season, playing 73 minutes in total.
