MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Miami University soccer team lost a back-and-forth match 3-2 at Middle Tennessee Thursday night after a late goal from the Blue Raiders. The RedHawks move to 1-3-0 with the result. MTSU is now 4-0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The RedHawks' first chance in the match came from Morhéa Hoefen in the 19^th minute, but she missed the one-time chance over the bar.
The next chance for Miami happened in the 27^th minute when Morgan Tyrakoski shot a loose ball off her right foot and hit the left post.
In the 41^st minute, Tyrakoski controlled the ball off her chest and shot with her left foot, but the shot was saved. It was then followed up by a shot by Caroline Mortonson, which was also saved.
Early in the second half, Coltie Carson passed a half-field ball to Devin McElroy, but the 48th-minute shot and rebound attempts were both stopped.
Averie Bierker created a great chance in the 51^st minute, but the shot from the cross by Tyrakoski missed wide left.
The RedHawks broke the scoreless tie in the 57^th minute thanks to an incredible shot by Hoefen from the far left side outside of the box into the top right corner.
MTSU drew a penalty kick in the 59^th minute, which was converted by Hannah Murphy, 1-1.
The RedHawks jumped back in front in the 62^nd minute from a penalty kick off a handball in the box, converted by Kayla Perfect into the bottom right corner.
The Blue Raiders tied the game 2-2 in the 73^rd minute with a goal from Payton Pitman.
MTSU scored the game-winning goal in the 86^th minute off a converted penalty kick by Ania Denham, 3-2.

NOTES

Hoefen scored her first goal of the 2026 season and the fourth of her career.
Tyrakoski recorded four shots, the most in her career. She is now averaging 1.75 shots per game.
McElroy recorded the first shot on goal of her career.
