HEAD COACH Enrico Blasi
ON WHAT CHANGED BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND PERIODS:
"I think the first five minutes of the second period was exactly what we wanted. We protected the play and created a few scoring opportunities. They executed the two-on-one after beating the defenseman. He just made a great play. We had the penalty killed off on the second goal. If we had it killed off, it's a one goal game. We turned it over and they capitalized. At that point, you need to start taking some risks. All the sudden, it became a game that Boston College wanted to
play. It was an up and down battle that became a transition game. It's not that we can't play a
transition game, but when your down two goals, it makes it tough. We still had our chances and we stuck to the game plan, but they seemed to block every shot we took. When you get to this level of play during this time of the year, you've got to execute those chances, and today that was not the case."
ON HOW MUCH EXPEREINCE HELPS IN THE NCAA'S
"Experience is everything. You know what to expect, and it helped our team yesterday. I said to the guys after the game that I was proud of them. If you get here enough times, something will go your way at some point. We played extremely well all weekend long, and it didn't go our way today, but I was so proud of the way the team battled.
ON BOSTON COLLEGE'S CHANCE ON WINNING THE NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP
"They can win it all. I think Michigan State and Maine will have something to say about that, and the other winner will also have something to say about that. In college hockey today, anybody can beat anybody. Do they have a shot at winning it? Absolutely."
SENIOR FORWARD Matt Christie
ON THE STYLE OF PLAY IN BOTH GAMES
"I thought the style of play was very similar. Both teams like to score goals in transition and control the puck to the center of the ice and try to get those three-on-twos. Our mind set was similar last night - if we could get the puck deep, then we could compete. We came out strong. They just got a few goals and put us back on our heels, and we just couldn't dig ourselves out.
ON THE LOSS OF Marty Guerin
"We stuck together, but losing Marty was a big blow for us. I don't think the team gave up once. We came here to battle and we knew we would have to overcome adversity. Losing him hurt us, but we kept going."
