Postgame Quotes

Recap | Final Stats | Notes

Miami Coach Charlie Coles "Our players have been in some unusually tough games, and I knew this would be a tough game. This was our seventh game and it seems like we've been playing for two months. I knew our guys were going to need to be motivated because, let's face it, some of these guys have been playing a lot of minutes. When you're going against some big, strong people, you've got to watch out that you don't run into mental or physical fatigue, or both."

"I'm very happy with the fact that we did accept the challenge. We knew that Indiana State was an improving team. They played Purdue real well the other day, and led at halftime. I don't think this was our best game, by far, but we made great plays when we had to. It does bother me that we're still not stopping anyone from making baskets."

Indiana State Coach Kevin McKenna "To sum it up from our end, in our four losses it's been the same recipe. We've had more turnovers than assists, we haven't shot the ball well from three-point range, and we've allowed our opponents to shoot a good percentage. It's not a good recipe for doing well against a good team on the road."

"Miami got some good production out of its bench and they had some guys step up and make some good plays. Their big guy inside (Tyler Dierkers), we let him get some real easy opportunities, layups from missed assignments. We did a decent job on their top two guys for a while. I'm real impressed by (Michael) Bramos. He's a nice player. He got loose on us late and got some tough shots to go down. They're a good team, and we're still trying to find our way."

Miami's Tyler Dierkers (What opened it up for you in the first half?) "That was pretty much Tim Pollitz drawing double teams. Most of my baskets came that way. Every time he got double-teamed, I just cut down the lane. It's pretty easy when you're shooting layups."

"Somebody else besides Mike (Bramos) and Tim (Pollitz) have to step up. They carry a lot of the load, and we're going to need a third and fourth person to step up and contribute, point-wise.

Miami's Michael Bramos "Our guards hit some big three-pointers. That helped, because they couldn't sag off them as much. When other people are making plays, it really helps when the other team gives them more respect."
