PRAGUE, Czech Republic - The Miami University Synchronized Skating Team made a strong statement in the short program at the International Skating Union (ISU) Synchronized Skating Championships in Prague, Czech Republic, finishing in fourth place with a score of 63.31 - just 0.16 behind Team Canada (63.47) for third place. Team Finland (69.89) and Team Sweden (69.09) sit in first and second place, respectively.
"After a performance like that we are all relieved and proud of how we skated," said head coach Vicki Korn. "I don't think we could have skated much better. For a team to go from seventh place to fourth in a year and put the U.S. in position to earn a medal for the first time is an exceptional accomplishment. Now we just need to go for it all tomorrow because we have nothing to lose."
The other U.S. Team, the Haydenettes, currently ride in fifth place (62.78), giving the United States two teams in the Top Five for the first time ever.
If the RedHawks finish in the Top Five it would be the program's best finish at the World Championships
Miami closes out the World Championship with their free skate program at approximately 7:12 p.m.
