ATHENS, Ohio--Behind a supreme team effort defensively and offensively, Miami University's men's basketball team collected a 73-59 win at Ohio University on Sunday afternoon to move to 10-8 overall and 7-3 in Mid-American Conference action.

The loss was Ohio's (12-5; 6-3 MAC) first home loss of the season and snapped an 11-game home win streak for the Bobcats.

Four RedHawks scored in double figures, paced by Nathan Peavy's 21 points and eight rebounds to lead all players. William Hatcher added 15 points and six assists, while Tim Pollitz and Doug Penno chipped in 12 points apiece in the winning effort.

In the first half, Miami jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead by the 16:31 mark off a 3-pointer by Hatcher a layup by Pollitz and a pair of buckets from Peavy. Ohio went on a 6-0 spurt to knot the game, 9-9, but a layup and a pair of free throws by Peavy and a Doug Penno trey helped Miami take a six-point lead by the 9:47 mark, 18-12.

The Bobcats charged back to take a 23-22 lead at the 5:44 mark off a Mychal Green 3-pointer. Michael Bramos knocked down a pair of free throws to give Miami back a one-point edge with 5:20 to play in the first half, 24-23. Leon Williams hit a jumper at 5:09 in the half to give Ohio the 25-24 lead, which would be the last Bobcat advantage of the game. Miami went on a 9-0 run over the next four minutes, spurred by two Penno treys, to take a 33-25 lead with 1:04 left in the half. Whitney Davis drained a trey as time expired in the first half to close the gap to five points at the intermission, 33-28.

The RedHawks shot a stellar 57.1 percent from the field over the second 20 minutes. Miami went on a 15-5 run, including an 8-0 spurt at the end of the run, over the first seven-plus minutes of the second half to construct a 48-33 lead. Jeff Halbert knocked down a 3-pointer at the 12:06 mark to put the Bobcats within 12 points, 48-36, but another Penno trey and a Pollitz layup handed Miami its largest lead of the game, 53-36, with 9:44 to play. The RedHawks would lead by 17 points three more times, the last at 5:36 off a Monty St. Clair layup, 61-44. Ohio would get as close as 11 down the stretch, but Miami rolled to the 73-59 win.

Whitney Davis led Ohio with 13 points, while Green added 12 points and a team-best six rebounds and Williams chipped in 11 points.

Miami returns home to host Bowling Green at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 before traveling to Buffalo for a 7 p.m. game at Buffalo on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Notes: Miami's 73 points were the most by the RedHawks since scoring a season-high 80 points at Michigan on Dec. 22 ... the win snapped a three-game losing skid for the RedHawks and handed Ohio its second straight loss ... Hatcher played his fifth consecutive 40-minute game and his 10th complete game of the season ... with his 21 points, Peavy recorded his third 20-point game of the season ... Bramos hauled in a season-high seven rebounds.
