RedHawks Suffer 3-0 Loss at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the first time since the opening game of the season, the No. 2 Miami University RedHawks (14-4-3, 11-3-1 CCHA) were unable to find the back of the net as they suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes (11-8-3, 7-6-1 CCHA) on Tuesday night.

Ohio State jumped out to an early lead with John Dingle's fourth goal of the season at the 2:01 mark. With the teams at even strength, Sean Collins blasted a shot from the center point that was stopped by freshman Jeff Zatkoff (Chesterfield, Mich.) made the initial save but the rebound popped into the left circle where Dingle banged it home.

Tom Fritsche doubled the Ohio State lead at 10:19 of the second period with a wrap-around effort that bounced off of freshman Alec Martinez (Rochester, Mich.) and trickled across the goal line.

At 3:33 of the third, Dominic Maiani finished the scoring as he converted a tic-tac-toe passing play for a 3-0 Ohio State edge. It marked Miami's first three-goal deficit since the opening game of the season versus North Dakota.

Miami was unable to convert on any of its seven power-play chances, while Ohio State went 0-for-8 with the man-advantage. Ohio State outshot Miami, 34-24.

The RedHawks return to action on Jan. 13-14 when they travel to Notre Dame for a two-game series with the Fighting Irish.

NOTES: FR Michael Findorff made his collegiate debut ... JR Matt Christie was whistled for his first penalty of the season at 7:05 of the second period ... Miami was down two goals in the second period for the first time since Nov. 18 versus Notre Dame ... the last time Miami was shutout was on Oct. 8 versus North Dakota (3-0) ... FR Jeff Zatkoff had his six-game unbeaten streak snapped ... Miami remains the only team in the NCAA to have not allowed more than three goals this season.
