Field Hockey Drops 2-0 Decision to Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Miami University field hockey team (1-1) was unable to take advantage of nine penalty corners as they dropped a 2-0 decision to the University of the Pacific (1-1) on Sunday afternoon. The RedHawks had nine penalty corners to the Tigers' two and outshot Pacific 10-8.

Natalie Purcell put Pacific on the board first with an unassisted tally in the game's 24th minute. The game remained a 1-0 until Katie Fixsen took a pass from Jennifer Chaney and put it in the back of the cage in the 64th minute, giving Pacific a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Taylor Florence (Louisville, Ky.), who scored both of Miami's goals in Saturday's 2-1, overtime victory over Stanford, had six shots for Miami.

The RedHawks complete their West coast swing when they take on the Cal Bears on Tuesday. Game time is slated for 3 p.m. PT.
