Miami went on a 23-0 run that lasted 10:28 during that first half, while Kent State made only two field goals.
The 31-point halftime deficit was KSU's largest this season, and the Flashes' 45 points in all and 11 for the first half were team lows for the season.
Miami's 31-point halftime advantage was its largest since 1996, when it led Akron by 43 at the break.
