OXFORD, Ohio - On the strength of a series sweep of No. 3 Michigan last weekend, the Miami University ice hockey team has vaulted to No. 2 in the national rankings. The RedHawks are 11-2-1, with both losses coming to nationally-ranked opponents, and sit on top of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with a 10-1-1 league mark. This week's ranking is the highest that a Miami team has appeared in a national poll, since the ice hockey team was ranked No. 2 for the week of Feb. 12, 1993.
The RedHawks are ranked No. 2 behind the University of Wisconsin, in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com polls, while coming in at No. 3 in the InsideCollegeHockey.com poll, trailing No. 1 Wisconsin and No. 2 Vermont. Miami's two losses came against No. 4 North Dakota and No. 18 Lake Superior State. Last week, Miami was ranked No. 8 in all three national polls.
Miami plays host to a pair of ranked teams this weekend when No. 14 St. Lawrence and No. 15 Clarkson come to Goggin Ice Arena. The puck drops on Dec. 9-10 at 7:35 p.m.
