RedHawks Defeat Akron, 74-63

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Danny Horace scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Miami survived a late Akron surge to win 74-63 on Sunday.

The RedHawks (12-5, 7-2 Mid-American) led 65-44 with 6:41 left in the game, but the Zips went on a 18-1 run to cut the lead to four points with 2:01 to play.

Darryl Peterson, who finished with 20 points, scored seven points during that span, and Cedrick Middleton added five points and a steal, one of four during the run.

Miami then went on an 8-1 run to seal the win.

Chet Mason scored 17 points for Miami, and William Hatcher added 13 points and six assists. Bubba Walther had 16 points for Akron.

The RedHawks led 28-19 at the half, and finished with a 34-18 advantage on points in the paint. The Zips scored 20 points off turnovers, compared to 13 for Miami.
