MIAMI SENIOR TEAM EARNS SECOND AT MID-AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS: The RedHawks' short program earned the senior team four second-place ordinals, four-third place ordinals, and one fifth-place vote as the team claimed second place. The Crystallettes took all nine first-place ordinals, though the runner-up status was an improvement from the team's third-place finish at its only other competition this year, the Dr. Porter Classic in December.
SENIOR TEAM OFF, COLLEGIATE SQUAD BACK: Now that the senior team has had its first post-winter break competition, the collegiate squad skates for points for the first time since Dec. 11 at the Intercollegiate Conference Competition when it travels to the Bronco Challenge Cup at Western Michigan this weekend.
MIAMI'S FOES AT THE BRONCO: Squads from several other schools are slated to compete in the long program, a difference from the local club teams that the senior team usually faces. Teams from Western Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan, Bowling Green, Illinois-Chicago and Grand Valley State are on the schedule.
MIAMI'S COLLEGIATE LONG PROGRAM: The Miami collegiate team designs only a long program. The choreography is set to music by the Big Bad Voodoo Daddies. The routine involves 20 RedHawk skaters and lasts four and a half minutes.
LAST YEAR'S BRONCO CHALLENGE CUP: The RedHawks finished second at last year's Bronco Challenge Cup in early February 2004, coming up short to the host Western Michigan squad by one point. Miami's 73 points were better than Michigan State's 65, Indiana's 60, Michigan's 56, Northern Michigan's 30, Ohio State's 14, Wisconsin-Eau Claire's four and Grand Valley State's two.
