ATHENS, Ohio - Senior Andrew Keefe (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and sophomore Scott Robson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) won two events each, and swam with first-place relays, to lead Miami University's men's swimming & diving team to a 138-105 victory over Ohio Saturday afternoon in Athens. With the win, the RedHawks remain in first place in the Mid-American Conference standings.
Keefe was victorious in both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly for the Red and White. He also teamed with senior Andy Uhlenberg (Rochester, Minn./Marshall), junior John Grubb (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) and freshman Griffin Marshall (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) on the first-place 200 medley relay in the meet's opening event. Grubb was also a part of the winning 800 freestyle relay. In that event, Grubb competed with Robson and sophomores Pat Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/DeSales) and Brian O'Rourke (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves) to give Miami the win.
Continuing his recent hot streak, Robson paced the competition to win both the 500 and 1000 free events. The sophomore has won eight events over his last seven meets, while posting two wins at a pair of them. His 800 free relay teammate, Marshall, was victorious in an individual event, as well, hitting the wall first in the 100 breaststroke.
Also winning an event for Miami was junior Jason Krasula (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg). Krasula took top honors in the 100 backstroke, just ahead of teammate Andrew O'Neill (Rockaway, NJ/Oratory Prep) in second place.
The Red and White return to the pool Saturday, Feb. 7, to close out its conference season. Miami hosts Eastern Michigan in what could amount to a first-place showdown, as the Eagles (5-3, 2-0 MAC) are a half game behind the RedHawks (6-3, 3-0 MAC) in the standings. The meet kicks off at 1 p.m.
