MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - Juby Johnson scored 19 points to lead Miami University past Central Michigan 80-70 on Wednesday night.

The RedHawks (8-6, 4-2 Mid-American) entered the game as one of the worst shooting teams in the league but hit 50 percent of their shots against the Chippewas (3-13, 0-6) including 58 percent from behind the three-point line.

Central cut the lead to just one point with 6:06 left in the game when Miami freshman Monty St. Clair knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to give the RedHawks a seven-point lead and a solid cushion heading into the final minutes of the game.

St. Clair finished with 14 points while Chet Mason added 13 and William Hatcher scored 12.

Gerrit Brigitha led the Chippewas with 17 points while David Hoskins scored 16, Tony Bowne scored 13 and Brandon Voorhees had 10.
