WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Josh Hausfeld scored 16 points to lead Miami University to a 63-52 win over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne in the consolation game of the Boilermaker Invitational Sunday.
After struggling mightily in a first-round loss to SMU on Saturday, Juby Johnson added 15 for the RedHawks (4-4).
Hausfeld scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers, in the first half as the RedHawks jumped out to a 42-25 lead.
David Simon scored 22 points and had six rebounds for the Mastodons (2-8), who lost to No. 17 Purdue in the first round Saturday.
The Mastodons started the second half with an 18-3 run that culminated in an emphatic dunk by Keion Henderson to pull them within two at 45-43 with 13 minutes to play.
But Miami picked up the defensive intensity, forcing turnovers and running the fast break during a 12-0 run to regain control.
The RedHawks shot 50 percent from the field for the game, and scored 22 points off turnovers.
Johnson was 6-for-13 from the field after scoring six points on 2-of-15 shooting on Saturday against SMU.
Henderson had 11 points and nine rebounds for IPFW.
The Mastodons struggled from the free-throw line, making just 20-of-34 attempts. Simon was the only player to enjoy any success at the line, going 10-of-12.
