Women's Swimming & Diving Upends Akron In Dual Meet

Consult results for changes in event finishes.AKRON, Ohio - Sophomore Laura Armbruster paced Miami University's women's swimming & diving team, posting three of its 10 first-place finishes, to a 184-116 dual meet victory over Akron Saturday afternoon in Akron.
Armbruster swept the breaststroke events for the second meet in a row, winning the 100 breast in 1:06.13, and the 200 in 2:23.72. Freshman Sarah Baumert finished second in both events, while fellow frosh Ashley Seymour swam to a third-place finish in the 200 breast. Armbruster, Baumert and Seymour took the top three positions on Friday night in the 200 breast, as well.
NCAA-qualifiers senior Amy Miranda and sophomore Christin Eberst each picked up a pair of first-place finishes for the Red and White. Miranda remained undefeated on the year in the 500 freestyle, finishing in a time of 5:09.71, while also taking first place in the 1000 freestyle, hitting the wall in 10:12.97. Eberst won the one-meter diving event by less than two points, but dominated in the three-meter, winning by a 34.5-point margin.
In the 100 freestyle, sophomore Katie Unger swam to a first-place finish, while Seymour took first-place honors in the 200 free, ahead of sophomore Katie Forster. Forster teamed up with Miranda, Maggi Bulla and Andrea Hocevar to win the 800 freestyle relay.
Along with their 10 first-place finishes, the RedHawks also recorded nine second-place finishes, including in each of the six events won by Akron.
The Red and White return to the pool, Saturday, Nov. 8, in Muncie, Ind. Miami takes on Ball State in a conference dual meet, beginning at 1 p.m.
