Women's Swimming & Diving Tops Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY - The RedHawks won 10 of 16 events, including two by both senior Amy Miranda and sophomore Laura Armbruster, as Miami University's women's swimming & diving team defeated Buffalo, 176-124, in a conference dual meet Friday afternoon.
Miami dominated both breaststroke events, as RedHawks claimed each of the top three places in both. Armbruster led the Red and White contigent in both events winning the 100 in a time of 1:06.68, while posting a time of 2:24.19 in the 200 breast. Freshman Sarah Baumert finished second in both events. MU also posted the top three finishers in the 50 free, led by sophomore Andrea Hocevar.
Miranda won both the 500 and 1000 freestyle, posting times of 5:00.31 and 10:23.83, respectively.
RedHawk divers swept the one- and three-meter events. The one-meter diving event was won by NCAA-qualifier, sophomore Christin Eberst, while senior Heidi Willemssen took first in three-meter diving.
The Red and White was also victorious in the 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle relay events. Sophomore Christel Frantz took first in the 100 free, as redshirt freshman Maggi Bulla won the 200 back. Morgan Kautz, Courtney Dice, Margaret Patrick and Diana Zeleznikar teamed up to win the 200 free relay.
Miami returns to action tomorrow, Nov. 1, at Akron. The RedHawks and Zips hit the pool at 1 p.m.
