RedHawks Clip Chippewas, 71-62

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Juby Johnson scored 19 points and Tim Schenke had 18, and Miami held Central Michigan scoreless for the final three minutes to beat the Chippewas 71-62 Saturday.

Chris Kaman had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Central Michigan (7-3, 0-1 MAC).

Central Michigan led 35-34 at halftime on 65 percent shooting, and after a see-saw start to the second half built a seven-point lead with 3:52 to play. But after Kaman hit a free throw with 3:14 left, Miami (4-7, 2-0) went on a 14-0 run.

A 3-pointer by Johnson tied the score at 62 with 2:05 left. Schenke hit a 3-pointer for the lead, and Danny Horace made four free throws in the final 41 seconds.

Gene Seals was Miami's other player to score in double figures, collecting 10 points.

Miami shot 49 percent (22-of-45) from the field, its best performance of the season. The RedHawks commited just eight turnovers while scoring 22 points off Central Michigan's 20 turnovers.
