OXFORD, Ohio - Jeff Blashill, a 1998 graduate of Ferris State University, arrives at Miami to take the position of assistant hockey coach.
Blashill comes to Miami after serving as an assistant coach at his alma mater for the past four seasons. With the Bulldogs he was heavily involved in all aspects of recruiting, including evaluations and on-campus visits. After a fine playing career between the pipes at FSU, Blashill was solely responsible for goaltender on- and off-ice instruction, as well as video instruction. Blashill worked magic with FSU in his first season by helping the team to its lowest single-season goals-against average (2.42) in the program's history.
During his playing career at Ferris State, Blashill was a three-time recipient of the program's Scholar-Athlete award and was selected as the Bulldogs' 1994-95 Rookie of the Year. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance in 1998 and was honored three straight years with the FSU President's Award for having the team's highest grade-point average.
"Jeff brings plenty of coaching experience to our program after spending four years working with someone as well respected as Bob Daniels," head coach Enrico Blasi says. "He's a fine addition to our staff, and we're very excited to have him as a part of our family."
Blashill also served as a coach for Team Michigan in the summers of 2000 and 2001 at the USA Hockey Select 17 Festival in St. Cloud, Minn.
