MUNCIE, Ind. - Miami University's women's tennis team improved to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the Mid-American Conference, edging Ball State 4-3 on Friday. The RedHawks won the doubles point, taking two of three matches, and captured three singles wins.
Seniors Kadija Richards and Catherine Dilley posted wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Richards downed Ball State's Melissa Roach, 7-6 (3) and 7-5. Dilley recorded a 6-2, 7-5 win over Jill Wieman. The two also teamed up to capture an 8-5 triumph at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Nancy Wiegand notched the RedHawks' other singles win, topping BSU's Susan Kelley, 6-4, 6-0, in the No. 6 spot.
The duo of sophomore Megan Zimpfer and freshman Brooke Peyton posted an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles in the RedHawk win.
Miami returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Bowling Green for a 1 p.m. contest.
