OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Chester Mason scored 19 points and Alex Shorts had 18 off the bench as Miami used a pair of second-half scoring runs to beat Toledo 64-54 Saturday.
Miami remains perfect at home in league play this season (5-0) and extends its home MAC win streak to eight.
The RedHawks (10-12, 7-4 Mid-American Conference) went on a 13-3 run midway through the second half to take their first lead since the opening minutes, then closed the game with a 12-4 surge to put away the Rockets.
Mason started the first run by making three consecutive jumpers. Larry Drake followed with a 3-pointer and Danny Horace hit two free throws to put Miami up 41-40, its first lead since 8-7. Juby Johnson closed the run with a jumper.
The RedHawks increased their lead to 52-44 before the Rockets (8-12, 5-6) pulled within two on consecutive 3-pointers from Terry Reynolds, who scored 22 points.
Shorts scored the next eight points to put the RedHawks ahead 60-52 with 1:49 to play. Miami outscored Toledo 40-21 in the second half to erase a 33-24 deficit.
Johnson added 12 points for Miami. Nick Moore had 18 points and Keith Triplett 10 rebounds for Toledo.
