A native of Rossville, Ind., Jacoby enjoyed a prolific high school career in which she netted an impressive 2,344 points, a total that ranks among the top five in Indiana girls high school basketball history. An Amateur Athletic Union all-American and 1991 Indiana Miss Basketball, Jacoby attended Purdue University, where she was a two-time team MVP as the Boilermaker point guard. Led by Jacoby, Purdue captured consecutive Big Ten titles in 1994 and 1995 as well as making an NCAA Final Four appearance in 1994 and an Elite Eight appearance in 1995. Jacoby finished her Purdue career with a Boilermaker record 157 three-point field goals and 427 assists. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in movement and science from Purdue in 1997.
In addition to her collegiate experience, Jacoby also gained experience on the international and professional levels. She was a member of the 1995 USA Basketball Jones Cup Team and also played two seasons for the Portland Power of the American Basketball League.
As a coach, Jacoby spent four years coaching at the AAU level and three years serving as the Director of the Jennifer Jacoby Camp before joining the staff at Indiana in 1998. Prior to last season, Jacoby was promoted to the position of recruiting assistant coach for the Hoosiers. Her responsibilities included recruiting, coaching perimeter players, scouting opponents and various administrative functions.
According to Fantanarosa, Jacoby's primary responsibilities at Miami will include recruiting, travel, scouting, conditioning and working with perimeter players.
"I'm really looking forward to working with Jennifer," Fantanarosa said. "Her enthusiasm and work ethic made her an outstanding collegiate player and those same traits, along with her experience, will make her a great coach. She's got a very bright future ahead of her."
