MOVING INTO2012: In his first two seasons at The Cradle of Coaches, Miami University's NICK HARWELL has racked up statistical totals that have taken others to do in four years. Nick was college football's second-leading receiver in 2011 with 129.6 yards per game (97 catches for 1,425 yards and nine touchdowns). He was a first-team All-Mid-American Conference selection last season. Harwell is a candidate for the 2012 Biletnikoff Award as college football's top receiver.
2011: Played in 11 games, starting 10 of them ... named as an honorable mention All-American for Sports Illustrated ... caught a Miami-record 97 balls for 1,425 yards and nine touchdowns ... broke the single-game receptions and receiving yards records against Temple (Nov. 9) with 15 catches for 229 yards and two touchdowns ... at the end of the season, he ranked third in receiving yards per game (129.5) and fourth in the nation in receiving yards (1,425) ... propelled himself into sixth place all-time at Miami in receptions (147) and fifth all-time in receiving yards (2,133).
2010: Over a span of his last nine games of the season, the freshman was one of the nation's premier receivers, catching 62 passes (6.9 rpg) for 856 yards (95.1 ypg) ... in all 14 games, Harwell caught 64 passes for 871 yards, ranking ninth among MAC receivers and T-69th nationally ... his 11 catches for 219 yards vs. Ohio was Miami's single-game record for yardage ... earned second-team All-MAC honors in 2010 and twice was named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week: at Bowling Green (10 catches for 125 yards, one TD) and at Buffalo (8 for 97 yards, two TDs) ... in the bowl game victory over Middle Tennessee State, he had seven catches for 86 yards and one TD.
2009: Attended the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
HIGH SCHOOL: As a senior (2009), Nick caught 50 passes for 690 yards and seven touchdowns ... as a junior (2008) at Elkins High School, he grabbed 36 balls for 490 receiving yards and seven TDs ... caught eight passes for 87 yards and one touchdown in the Bayou Bowl, both records ... also played in the Space City Classic ... prep football coach was Robert Crivellari.
PERSONAL: Born January 21, 1991 ... son of William and Carla Harwell ... he majors in sport studies.
