MOVING INTO 2012: As one of Miami University's most dominating players, senior defensive tackle AUSTIN BROWN has harassed the RedHawk opposition to the tune of 23.5 tackles per loss through his first three seasons. Brown is a candidate for the 2012 Outland Trophy as college football's top interior lineman.
2011: Played in all 12 games, making 10 starts ... made 33 total tackles, including 8.5 for a loss and 3 sacks ... had a season-high six tackles on two occasions: Minnesota (Sept. 17) and Bowling Green (Sept. 24).
2010: A second-team All-MAC performer, he was a starter in all 14 games ... co-captained the team as a sophomore ... he recorded 27 solo tackles and 26 assists, tied for fourth-most among his teammates ... his 10 tackles for loss for 33 yards ranked third-best ... also totaled three quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles, two blocked kicks, two QB hurries, two PBUs and one fumble recovery ... had one of the biggest defensive plays of the MAC title game, tackling NIU's all-league QB Chandler Harnish on the final play ... his blocked punt vs. Kent State resulted in a touchdown by Evan Harris ... served as a member of Miami's Leadership Council.
2009: He started nine games for the RedHawks and finished as Miami's seventh-leading tackle with 40 stops ... he also recorded five tackles for loss and blocked two kicks ... registered a season-best seven tackles vs. Northern Illinois and had five stops at both Northwestern and Ohio ... blocked kicks against Northwestern and Bowling Green.
HIGH SCHOOL: His 2008 Woodbridge High School team had a perfect 10-0 regular-season record ... as a senior, he accumulated 82 tackles and 10 quarterback sacks ... earned team MVP honors twice and was an all-district and all-area selection ... he also lettered in track and field as a shot putter and in baseball as a first baseman.
PERSONAL: Born September 14, 1991 ... son of Greg and Laurie Brown ... Austin majors in health studies at Miami.
