Appeared in 18 games on the mound during senior season, making one start … finished with 4-2 record and 2.14 ERA … was second on RedHawks with four saves … finished third on Miami with 65 strikeouts in 54.2 innings pitched … opponents hit only .235 against him … struck out five and did not allow a hit in 3.0 innings pitched in win over Youngstown State (3/9) … earned victory over St. Bonaventure (3/16), allowing only one hit and striking out a season-high nine in 4.0 innings pitched … struck at least one batter out in every single appearance during season.
 
2018
Appeared in 18 games on the mound, making one start … recorded a 4-2 record with a team-best 2.77 ERA … finished with 36 strikeouts … threw 48.2 innings, the most of any reliever … opponents hit .250 against him … allowed only one run in 8.0 innings pitched in win over Kent State (5/17) … made first start of season, throwing 8.0 innings, allowing no runs on seven hits and striking out a career-high 10 in MAC Tournament victory over Ball State (5/24).
 
2017
Appeared 15 times on the mound for Miami, earning 10 starts ... posted a 3-4 record with a 4.38 ERA in 78 innings pitched ... racked up 35 strikeouts ... collected a complete-game shutout against ETSU (3/18) ... went eight or more innings on three occasions ... earned eight quality starts.

2016
Made 20 appearances out of the bullpen, good for third most on the team, as well as one start finished the season with a team-high five wins and a 2.98 ERA picked up first-ever collegiate win in a victory over Dayton (3/30) pitched six innings of shutout ball in relief at Central Michigan (5/25) led qualified pitchers with only 15 walks allowed on the year, while striking out 38.

HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Cincinnati Elder High School, where he as on the honor roll lettered all four years in baseball, where he was a pitcher, first baseman and outfielder senior season: 6-0, 53 IP, 45K, 0.79 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and hit .316 with four XBH and 18 RBI helped team to GCL Championship in 2014 played in the East-West High Scool All-Star Game in 2015 Second Team All-GCL and Honorable Mention All-City as a sophomore Second Team All-State, First Team All-City and GCL Co-Player of the year as a junior First Team All-GCL, Second Team All-State, First Team All-City , GCL Pitcher of the Year and GCL Captain of the Year as a senior prep coach was Mark Thompson.

Smith Born: Oct. 23, 1996 son of Kathy and Lance Smith has three siblings great grandfather, Red Ruffing, played 22 seasons for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox great grandfather, Flea Clifton, played four seasons with the Detroit Tigers uncles, Kurt ('85) and Rick ('87) Ruffing, graduated from Miami … majoring in Sports Leadership & Management.
