Miami University head baseball coach Danny Hayden has announced that Adam Vasil has been named Director of Pitching Development.

“I am proud and thrilled to be joining the program here in Oxford,” said Vasil. “Danny and the staff foster a winning environment that sure is fun to be around. I’m particularly excited to work with Matt Passauer and the elite talent we have on this pitching staff.”

Vasil comes to the RedHawks after serving as the Head Assistant at NCAA DII Coker University in Hartsville, South Carolina. He led the pitching staff and spearheaded the recruiting efforts for the Cobras. Coker's pitching efforts finished with a 22-percent increase in strikeouts (8.5 K/9), and proudly held one SAC Pitcher of the Week award winner in the shortened season.

Prior to Coker, Vasil was the Graduate Assistant at the University of Indianapolis, where he assisted the pitching coach and worked with catchers. In his time there, Greyhounds pitchers lowered their team ERA (4.8), WHIP (1.51), and batting average against (.268).

“We are very excited to be adding Adam to our staff,” said Hayden. “He brings a wealth of knowledge with him. As coaches, we are always striving to find other perspectives that can enhance our player experience. Adam brings new ideas and concepts to our staff that I believe will rapidly translate to increased development and results. I am confident that he will fit in well with our staff and assert himself as an incredibly valuable member of our team.”

In 2017 he worked as a Training Specialist at the Florida Baseball Ranch. In that role he guided individuals in all aspects of player development including movement assessments, biomechanics, and individualized throwing programs. During his time at The Ranch, he worked with elite talents ranging from high school to MLB players, even traveling to Taiwan to work with the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) managers and players.

A 2016 ABCA Rawlings Gold Glove Nominee, Vasil graduated with a bachelor's degree from Ashland University before transferring to the University of Indianapolis to play, coach, and receive an MBA in Organizational Leadership.
