KENT, Ohio — The Miami University soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss on the road at Kent State University Sunday. Miami had seven corners and several saves from Dominique Popa, but fell to the Golden Flashes. The RedHawks move to 5-5-0 (1-1-0) with the result. KSU is now 2-5-2 (1-1-0).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Caroline Mortonson had a promising shot in the 17^th minute from the near side of the pitch, outside of the box, but the shot was punched wide.
Kent State took the lead 1-0 from a rebound off a free kick taken outside the box in the center of the pitch. Lila Simon scored the goal in the 23^rd minute.
In the 30^th minute, Popa made a diving save to her right, preventing the Golden Flashes from doubling their lead.
In the 43^rd minute, Kayla Perfect had a shot that was blocked inside the box. The play resulted in a review for a possible handball, but the review was upheld.
Morhéa Hoefen made a long-range attempt at net that took a full extension save from the Kent State goalkeeper to stop in the 51^st minute.
In the 55^th minute, Kailyn Morrison made a tackle in the box to eliminate a Kent State open shot opportunity.
Katie O'Malley hit the crossbar from a left footed shot on the edge of the box in the 57^th minute.
The Golden Flashes took control of the game in the 65^th minute after a goal by Lila Simon, assisted by Ava Todd and Allison Collins, to make it 2-0.

NOTES

Perfect has now recorded eight shots in her last three games, the most in a three-game span in her career.
Popa has now tallied 180 saves in her career.
Miami had seven corners, while Kent State only had two.
