Bierker Goal Helps RedHawks to a Senior Day Draw, 1-1

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Ball State University Sunday. Averie Bierker scored her second goal in three MAC contests and Kailyn Morrison earned an assist, the first of her career. The RedHawks move to 5-5-1 (1-1-1 MAC) with the result. BSU is now 3-4-3 (0-1-2 MAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the ninth minute, Coltie Carson attempted a long shot from a free kick that was saved by BSU.
Dominique Popa made a nice save in the 40^th minute to keep the game tied.
In the 47^th minute, Millie Cook cut back and sent a left-footed shot wide of the goal.
Ball State took the lead in the 62^nd minute. The goal was scored by Anna Kate Robillard and assisted by Annika Klauss to make it 1-0.
The RedHawks bounced back quickly with a 65^th minute equalizer off a long pass by Morrison that was finished by a right-footed shot by Bierker, 1-1.
Morrison had another strong opportunity in the 71^st minute on a left-sided shot past the 18, but it was saved by BSU.
In the 90^th minute, a last-second cross was headed over the bar by Maris Jennings, keeping the game level.

NOTES

Morrison recorded the first assist of her three-year career.
Jaden Sink played all 90 minutes, continuing her streak of playing every regular-season minute.
Bierker scored the second goal of her collegiate career.
Sophia Penegor made her first appearance of the season.
The RedHawks honored eight seniors as a part of their senior day celebration.
