OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University soccer team cruised to a 3-0 win against Western Carolina University Friday night after goals by Maris Jennings, Kayla Perfect, and Devin McElroy. Miami recorded a season-high 17 shots from 12 different shot takers en route to their victory. The RedHawks move to 4-4-0 with the result. WCU is now 2-5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Miami jumped onto the scoreboard early in the sixth minute after a great run down the sideline by Millie Cook that was crossed and headed in by Jennings, 1-0.
Morhéa Hoefen tricked a defender inside the box, but the shot went wide left in the 21^st minute.
In the 29^th minute, Morgan Tyrakoski attempted a volley shot after a pass from Katie O'Malley, but it went right at the keeper.
The RedHawks doubled their lead in the 65^th minute from a beautiful leading pass by Tyrakoski that was knocked in by Perfect, 2-0.
Miami's third goal came just four minutes later in the 69^th minute from an incredible long-range shot by McElroy, assisted by Caroline Mortonson.

NOTES

McElroy scored the first goal of her career.
Macy Berg and Lily Berhalter made their collegiate debuts.
Jennings now has a three-game point streak, the longest of her career.
Mortonson tallied her first point of the season off the assist.

UP NEXT:
Miami starts MAC play this Thursday, Sept. 17 vs Akron. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. at Bobby Kramig Field. Fans are asked to enter the Miami Soccer Complex via Shadowy Hills Dr. or the Gate 3 Entrance off of Route 732 due to the Talawanda Homecoming Parade staging on Bonham Rd. that night.
