OXFORD, Ohio --Â Miami Golf made history this past May, rallying in the final round of the MAC Championships to win the conference title on a cold and rainy day in Zionsville, Ind. The RedHawks won the trophy for the first time since 2015, finishing with a score of 880 to top runner-up Northern Illinois by seven strokes. Liam Nelson (70-76-71=217) capped off a stellar tournament with an even-par final round and captured the individual title by a single stroke, giving Miami its first MAC medalist since 2003. Nelson, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, became the first Miami golfer since 1996 to win the individual title and lead the Red and White to a team championship in the same season. JD Fletcher was recognized as MAC Coach of the Year, Nelson and Brett Podobinski earned All-MAC honors and Michael Weber received the conference Sportsmanship Award. Miami's performance at the MAC Championships earned the RedHawks a trip to Bryan, Texas and their first NCAA appearance since 2015.
