MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Miami's Tommy Harrison was named a Dick Howser Trophy National Co-Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for the first time this season on Tuesday after a monster weekend at the plate versus Akron. The redshirt junior from Cleveland, Ohio, led the way to Miami's sixth series sweep of the year, putting up 13 RBIs and nine hits on 15 at bats (.600). His 1.400-slugging-percentage weekend was highlighted by a perfect 5-for-5 showing on Friday and four total home runs: a grand slam on Thursday, a two-run and a solo homer Friday, and a three-run shot on Saturday. Harrison struck out just once all weekend and walked twice to round out his statline with an OBP of .647.
Harrison and the top-seeded RedHawks will open postseason play this Thursday at 2 p.m., facing the lowest seed to advance in the first round of the MAC Tournament after Wednesday's games.
