Pero Named MAC Golfer of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly men's golf awards Friday morning, and Miami's Cameron Pero was recognized as the MAC Golfer of the Week.
Pero (68-69-72=209) tied for third at the Robert Kepler Invitational out of 84 players to help Miami Golf take third place as a team in a 16-team field. He held the 36-hole lead and collected 15 birdies over the course of 54 holes. Pero was -7 for the tournament and lost by only two shots. He carded seven of his 15 birdies in the opening round Saturday and never looked back, earning his highest placement of the season and recording the fourth top-five finish for a RedHawk golfer this season. His efforts helped Miami finish ahead of Big Ten programs like Michigan, Michigan State and Indiana as the Red and White ended the tournament at 14 under par as a team.
