ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio University used a third quarter 17-1 run as the Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 77-62 decision on Saturday night to close out the regular season. Clara Gonzalez Planella scored a season-high 16 points and Amber Tretter chipped in with 13 for the Red and White, who will enter the Mid-American Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed at 25-6 overall and 16-2 in MAC play. Ell Garnett had 21 points for Ohio (17-12, 11-7 MAC).

How it Happened:
- Ohio scored the game's first five points and the RedHawks did not get on the board until Tretter knocked down a free throw three minutes into the contest. Ohio pushed its advantage to 10-3 before Ashton Elley's triple cut the deficit, 10-6 midway through the quarter. After the media timeout Amber Scalia's straight-away three made it a one-point game, before the Bobcats scored the next five to claim a 15-9 advantage. Elley's second triple of the quarter, followed by a layup from Tretter closed the gap, 15-14. OU led 17-14 after 10 minutes of play.
- Ohio had a 23-17 advantage four minutes into the second quarter before Tamar Singer turned a steal into a coast-to-coast layup and Scalia added a pair from the charity stripe to close withing 23-21. An Ilse de Vries turn-around jumper gave Miami their first lead of the game, 25-23, but an 8-2 run by the Bobcats made it 31-27 with 90 seconds left in the half. Tretter scored four points down the stretch to make it a one-point game, 32-31, at the half.
- The Bobcats opened the second half on a 17-1 run and led 49-32 five minutes into the third. Clara Gonzalez Planella knocked down a triple at the 3:45 mark, Miami's first field goal of the second half. The senior drilled two more from behind the arc to help Miami climb to within 11, 54-43, and a triple from Amber Scalia made in 56-46. The Bobcats led 61-48 heading to the fourth.
- The RedHawks would get no closer than 12 points in the final quarter.
Game Notes:
- Gonzalez Planella's 16 points smashed her previous season-high of nine versus NIU on Jan. 26.
- Miami was 9-of-31 from long distance, while the Bobcats were 13-of-28.
