Miami Loses Game Two Versus Huskies 5-1

DeKALB, Ill. – Miami dropped a 5-1 decision to the Northern Illinois Huskies Saturday after being shut out in the final eight innings. The RedHawks fall to 14-7 (5-3 MAC) with the loss, while NIU moves to 12-7 (5-3 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marcus Dierks led off the first for Miami with a single and advanced on a stolen base and a flyout. Evan Appelwick came up with an RBI groundout to put the RedHawks ahead 1-0.
- NIU took a 3-1 lead in the second with three hits and one RedHawk error.
- A leadoff triple set up the Huskies to extend the lead to 4-1 in the fifth.
- NIU scored the final run of the game off two hits in the eighth.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- Dierks finished with a stolen base and a run.
UP NEXT:
The RedHawks will conclude their series against NIU tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
