RedHawks Open Spring Season in Hawaii

LIHUE, Hawaii — The Miami University golf team kicked off day one of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate today in Hawaii. The RedHawks shot 293 as a team, ending the day in 17th place out of 19 programs. Cameron Pero paced the Red and White with a score of 72, finishing +2 for the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Pero opened the round with back-to-back birdies and had a team-high four on the day, ending with a 72 to sit in 46th place after day one.
- Liam Nelson shot a 3-over 73 and is tied for 58th place; he was only over par on three of the 18 holes.
- Tyler Anderson also started the tournament with consecutive birdies en route to a score of 73 (three over par) and is tied with Nelson in 58th.
- Brett Podobinski shot a 75 (five over par) and is tied for 77th; Joseph Canitano matched Podobinski's day one score while competing as an individual (including an eagle on hole two).
- Michael Weber finished the day with a score of 76 (six over par) and birdied the second hole, as all five RedHawks in the lineup carded birdies on that 525-yard par five.
