COLUMBIA, S.C.— The Miami University soccer team fell to No. 16 South Carolina 2-0 Sunday afternoon. Dominique Popa made six saves for the RedHawks, who are now 1-2-0 on the season. The Gamecocks remain perfect on the year at 4-0-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The hosts opened the scoring at the 10-minute mark, as Gracie Falla's free kick led Micah Bryant toward the end line on a set play. Bryant then quickly served a ball to the near goalpost that Katie Shea Collins headed home.
South Carolina made it 2-0 shortly after halftime, as a RedHawk hand ball gave the Gamecocks a penalty kick. Popa got a piece of the ensuing try, but Cuyler Zulauf's attempt was ultimately successful to double the home side's lead in the 47th minute.
Miami's best scoring chance came in the 79th minute, when a Jyvanna Harris foul gave the RedHawks a free kick near the corner flag; however, the visitors were unable to get on the end of Katie O'Malley's kick and South Carolina took over.

NOTES

Popa started her 19th consecutive match for the Red and White (dating to last August).
Popa's six saves were her highest single-match total since Oct. 18, 2024 (seven).
Morgan Longacre made her first start of the season for Miami.
