RedHawks Compete in Final Meet of Outdoor Regular Season

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--Â The Miami outdoor track & field teams competed in the Billy Hayes Invitational Friday, the RedHawks' final meet of the outdoor regular season. The Red and White took home first-place finishes in nine different events on the day, including breaking a school record in the women's 4x100 relay.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the field for the women, the RedHawks had the top three finishers in the women's long jump event, as Ella Scally led the way in first place with a new personal-best distance of 6.29 meters. Scally replaces herself as second in the record books and beat her previous mark by two hundredths of a meter. Chloe Rickson (5.62 meters) and Elle Miller (5.58 meters) finished right behind Scally in second and third place in the women's long jump event. Allie Melchiorre took home first place in the women's javelin throw with 41.08 meters. Maggie Dougherty also competed in the javelin throw event, and she finished in third place with 37.77 meters. Emily Eterovich (3.80 meters) and Grace Hicks (3.65 meters) finished in second and fourth place in the women's pole vault. Ella Garvin (1.68 meters), Abbi Deisch (1.64 meters), and Miller (1.64 meters) finished in fourth, fifth, and sixth place in the women's high jump. In the women's discus throw, Carly Cambria (37.75 meters), Caroline Kagy (36.87 meters) and Sharron Kagan (36.54 meters) finished in fifth, sixth, and seventh place, respectively. Kagan (47.83 meters) and Sophia Ili (42.89 meters) finished in eighth and 10th place in the women's hammer throw, respectively. In the women's shot put throw, Kagy (11.84 meters) and Ili (11.58 meters) took eighth and ninth place.
- Abby Suszek took home first place in the women's 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 52.96 seconds. Lucca Agate also ran in the 400-meter dash, and she finished in third place with a time of 55.02 seconds. In the women's 4x100-relay, the Miami team of Riley Betz, Scally, Keira McGregor, and Suszek finished in first place with a program-record time of 45.18 seconds. In the women's 100-meter dash prelims, Scally (11.97 seconds), Betz (12.00 seconds), and McGregor (12.19 seconds) qualified for the finals as they finished in second, third, and fifth place, respectively. In the finals, Betz (12.07 seconds) and McGregor (12.22 seconds) finished in third and fifth place. Madison Berger finished in fourth place in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.99 seconds. In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Berger (1:04.31), Sydney Harmon (1:04.49), and Mae Reed (1:04.66) finished in third, fifth, and seventh place, respectively. Betz finished in fifth place in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.79 seconds. The women's 4x400-relay team of Agate, Scally, Suszek, and Eve Traficanti took home first place with a new season-best time of 3:42.18.
- In the women's 3000-meter run, Cara Naas finished in second place with a season-best time of 10:33.27. In the women's 800-meter invitational run, Avery Emerson (2:08.35) and Traficanti (2:09.17) finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Gretchen Feldkamp finished in ninth place in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.46. In the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, Linda Conchetto finished in third place with a time of 11:09.52.
- On the field for the men, Adam Smith took home first place in the men's discus throw with a new PR of 54.11 meters. Smith is now ranked sixth in program history for the event. Richard Obioha (48.79 meters), Owen Billeter (45.62 meters), Ben Riegel (43.71 meters), and Reilly Worthington (42.58 meters) also competed in the men's discus throw, and they finished in fourth, eighth, ninth, and tenth place, respectively. Gabe Asbury finished in fourth place in the men's hammer throw event with a new personal-best distance of 57.35 meters. Asbury is now ranked eighth all-time in RedHawk history for the event. Riegel (55.74 meters), Blake Presley (51.76 meters), Billeter (51.70 meters), and Worthington (49.19 meters) also competed in the men's hammer throw, and they finished in fifth, eighth, ninth, and 10th place, respectively. In the men's pole vault event, Henry Hoblitzell finished in second place with 4.89 meters. Clark Helgason (53.57 meters) and CJ Johnson Jr. (45.04 meters) competed in the men's javelin throw, and they finished in second and fifth place, respectively. Mac Burley finished fourth in the men's high jump event with 1.89 meters. In the men's shot put throw, Riegel (15.31 meters), Worthington (14.93 meters), Presley (14.47 meters), and Obioha (13.49 meters) finished in sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth place, respectively. Andrew Farrow (6.71 meters) and Kirk Knecht (6.40 meters) finished in seventh and ninth place in the men's long jump event, respectively. Farrow also competed in the men's triple jump event, and he finished in fifth place with 13.45 meters.
- In the men's 100-meter dash prelims, Rondale Carridine (10.74 seconds), Angelo Vassilakis (10.92 seconds), and Matthew Shuler (10.93 seconds) finished in third, seventh, and eighth place to qualify for the finals. In the finals, Carridine took home first place with a season-best time of 10.61 seconds. Vassilakis (10.64 seconds) and Shuler (10.75 seconds) finished in second and fourth place in the finals, respectively. The men's 4x100-relay team of Carridine, Leo Bouldin, Vassilakis, and Shuler took home first place in the event with a season-best time of 40.70 seconds. That time for the 4x100-relay is now second in Miami history for the event. Leo Bouldin finished in first place in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 47.34 seconds. Micah Schuster (48.32 seconds) and Joey Valeski (48.65 seconds) also ran in the 100-meter dash, and they finished in sixth and 10th place, respectively. In the men's 110-meter hurdle prelims, Jaxson Tober qualified for the finals as he came in ninth place with a time of 15.03 seconds. In the finals, Tober finished in seventh place with a time of 14.86 seconds. Tober also ran in the men's 400-meter hurdles, and he finished in fifth place with a time of 55.28 seconds. In the men's 200-meter dash, Valeski finished in 10th place with a new personal-best time of 21.62 seconds. The men's 4x400-relay team of Schuster, Bouldin, Dominic Jackson, and Valeski finished in second place with a season-best time of 3:12.86
- In the men's 1500-meter run, Tom Heal (3:48.32), Victor Orsinelli (3:53.37), and Mhalicki Bronson (3:53.91) finished in second, eighth, and ninth place, respectively. Anthony Vlatko finished in seventh place in the men's 800-meter invitational run with a time of 1:55.76.
