RedHawks Start Fast at MAC Outdoor Championships

ATHENS, Ohio--Â The Miami women finished the first day of the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in first place with 33 points, while the RedHawk men finished in third place with 24 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the field for the women, Emily Eterovich came in second place in the women's pole vault event with a new personal-best distance of 3.95 meters. With this performance, Eterovich replaces herself as third in RedHawk history for the event. Mia Boule (3.95 meters) and Grace Hicks (3.70 meters) also competed in the women's pole vault event, and they finished in third and seventh place, respectively. In the women's javelin throw, Allie Melchiorre finished second with a new PR distance of 45.90 meters. Melchiorre is now ranked fourth all-time in program history for the event. Maggie Dougherty also competed in the women's javelin throw, and she finished in eighth place with 38.63 meters. Ella Rigel finished in second place in the women's hammer throw with 60.51 meters.
- In the first round of the women's 200-meter dash, Abby Suszek finished in fourth place with a time of 23.61 seconds and qualified for the finals on Saturday.
- On the field for the men, Matthew Howard finished in third place in the men's javelin throw with 58.94 meters. Adam Smith (52.12 meters) and Clark Helgason (51.47 meters) also competed in the javelin throw, and they finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively. In the men's pole vault event, Henry Hoblitzell finished in fourth place with 4.74 meters. Ben Riegel (54.56 meters), Blake Presley (51.95 meters), and Gabe Asbury (50.96 meters) finished in seventh, eighth, and ninth place in the men's hammer throw.
- In the 10,000-meter run finals, Patrick Wills finished in fourth place with a time of 31:55.21. In the first round of the men's 400-meter hurdles, Jaxson Tober finished in eighth place with a time of 55.99 seconds. With this time, Tober qualified for the finals on Saturday. Leo Bouldin finished in eighth place of the first round of the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.44 seconds and qualified for the finals on Saturday. Micah Schuster also ran in the men's 200-meter dash, and he finished in ninth place with a time of 21.45 seconds.
