4x100 Relay Victories Highlight Miami's Weekend in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio— The Miami University outdoor track and field team competed at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Classic this weekend. Miami swept first place in the 4x100 relays, as both the men's and women's relays won their respective races. Tom Heal also brought home a first-place finish for the Red and White in the steeplechase.

- Five RedHawk women competed in the 400m hurdles, paced by Erin Connors' 15th-place finish (1:04:01). Jaxson Tober took seventh in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53:55. In the 5000 meters, Patrick Wills came in ninth place in a field of 39 competitors, posting a time of 14:26.28. On the women's side, Cara Razavi (17:38.01) came in 27th.
- The women's 4x100 relay team of Riley Betz, Ella Scally, Abby Suszek and Keira McGregor finished first with a time of 46.24, defeating the nearest team by 0.26 seconds. The men's 4x100 relay also claimed first place with a time of 42.03, as Rondale Carridine, Leo Bouldin, Angelo Vassilakis and Matthew Shuler out-ran runner-up Akron by 0.14 seconds.
- In the women's 1500, Avery Emerson came in 28th with a time of 4:33.59 to pace five Miami participants. Victor Orsinelli brought home a top-10 finish in the men's 500, placing seventh with a mark of 3:58.06.
- Three RedHawks ran in the women's 100m hurdles, led by Sydney Harmon (16.01), who came in 11th place. Tober came in sixth in the men's 100m hurdles, clocking a 15.69.
- JD Leverette (51.69) and Leo Bouldin (52.10) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's 400. In the women's 800, Emerson placed 11th with a mark of 2:13.73. Three Miami men competed in the 800, with Dominic Jackson leading the way in a 12th-place finish (1:57.62).
- Heal came in nearly 15 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor to capture first place in the steeplechase, topping a field of 13 runners with a time of 8:54.77. That moves him into the top 10 in program history for the steeplechase. Petros Sanchez also earned a top-five finish, coming in fourth with a mark of 9:17.26.
- In the field events, Matthew Howard was the standout, coming in second place in the men's javelin with a throw of 55.97m. Allie Melchiorre took fourth in the women's javelin for the RedHawks (40.75m), while Maggie Dougherty came in eighth (37.83m). Ella Rigel was third in the women's hammer with a mark of 59.75m. Ben Riegel finished eighth on the men's side, coming in at 57.52m to lead four RedHawk competitors in that event and move into seventh on Miami's all-time list.
- Chloe Rickson finished 17th in the women's long jump (5.14m), with Andrew Farrow coming in 15th in the men's long jump (6.34m). Riegel was the top Miami thrower in the shot put, posting a mark of 14.89m to come in 19th place. Sophia Ili finished 19th on the women's side with a throw of 11 meters. Adam Smith came in 11th in the men's discus, producing a mark of 47.18m.
- Henry Hoblitzell came in eighth in the men's pole vault (5.08m), a mark that moves him into the top 10 in program history (tied for eighth on the list). Mia Boule (tied for ninth) and Emily Eterovich (11th place) each posted a mark of 3.83m in the women's pole vault. Eterovich now ranks third in Miami's all-time history for the event. Ella Garvin and Elle Miller tied for ninth place in the women's high jump at 1.65m.
